What is it?
Hexachlorophene is a topical antiseptic which is by prescription only in the US.

How can I avoid it?
Patients who are allergic or photo-allergic to Hexachlorophene should notify all health care providers of their allergy. pHisoHex is used as a surgical cleanser in the operating room. Such patients should avoid foreign-made personal care products unless they are clearly labeled with a list of ingredients.
